Life Is A Recipe: Taste As You Go
The Body Always Knows
Long before anything goes wrong, it whispers.
The question was never whether your body was talking.
The question was whether you were listening.
When I was a chef, there was one lesson I learned very early.
Never wait until the meal is finished to find out if it tastes right.
You taste as you go.
You adjust.
You add a little more salt.
A little less heat.
A squeeze of lemon.
Fresh herbs.
You don’t blindly follow the recipe and hope for the best.
You stay connected to what’s happening in front of you.
Life is no different.
The problem is that many of us don’t live that way.
We keep going.
We push through.
We tell ourselves we’ll slow down later.
We’ll rest next month.
We’ll deal with it after this project.
We’ll start looking after ourselves when life settles down.
And before we know it…
We’ve cooked an entire life without ever stopping to taste it.
I know.
Because that’s exactly what I did.
Looking back now, I can see my body had been trying to get my attention for years.
The afternoon crashes.
Another cold.
Digestive issues.
Poor sleep.
The constant feeling of running on empty.
I dismissed every one of them.
“I’m just busy.”
“It’s normal.”
“I’ll be fine.”
I wasn’t listening.
Not because I didn’t care.
Because I believed pushing through was what strong women did.
I thought resilience meant ignoring discomfort.
I thought discipline meant overriding my body.
Now I see something completely different.
My body wasn’t working against me.
It was working for me.
Every symptom was feedback.
Every ache was information.
Every moment of exhaustion was an invitation to pause and ask…
What needs adjusting?
Not because my body wanted less from life.
Because it wanted me back.
That’s the thing about cooking.
The best chefs don’t panic when something isn’t quite right.
They don’t throw the whole meal away.
They make a small adjustment.
Then they taste again.
Life works the same way.
Most of us think transformation happens through massive change.
I don’t believe that anymore.
I think it happens through tiny moments of awareness.
Checking in.
Listening.
Adjusting.
Listening again.
It’s not glamorous.
But it changes everything.
Today, I don’t think of health as simply eating well or exercising.

Health is connection.
Connection to my body.
Connection to my thoughts.
Connection to my emotions.
Connection to my energy.
Connection to my intuition.
Because the more connected I became…
The less I had to force life.
The better I slept.
The calmer I became.
The clearer my decisions were.
Not because life became easier.
Because I finally started paying attention.
Everything changed the moment I stopped seeing my body as something to control…
…and started seeing it as something to understand.
Maybe that’s the invitation for all of us.
Not to become perfect.
Not to get the recipe exactly right.
Just to stop every now and then…
…and taste as we go.
Because life isn’t asking you to have all the answers.
It’s simply asking you to pay attention.
So this week, instead of asking yourself…
“What do I need to fix?”
Try asking something different.
“What has my body been trying to tell me?”
“What has my heart been trying to tell me?”
“What has my life been trying to tell me?”
Not as a judgement.
As curiosity.
Because the whispers are rarely the problem.
Ignoring them usually is.
Next week we’re turning up the heat.
Because pressure has a way of revealing what’s already inside us.
Be kind to yourself.
Keep tasting.
Keep adjusting.
Keep creating.
